It is the development of a hydrodynamic model and quality analysis of the sanitation level required, depending on the capacity of the Saja-Besaya estuary discharges, and depending in turn on the possible location of future WWTP. For each location, purification processes which can obtain the effluent taken by the estuary will be analysed, making a pre-dimensioning of the main elements of each plant with the aim of fixing the place requirements and checking their feasibility from a geotechnical, construction, environmental etc., point of view, at each proposed site.

For each alternative location and sanitation level, the necessary changes in the existing infrastructure of the Saja-Besaya Sanitation System is studied,  also the running costs of all works and the costs of operation and maintenance of the wastewater treatment plant. Through a multi-criteria analysis, the most suitable alternative is selected, contrasting impacts both on the environment and economic costs and technical feasibility of each solution.
