Applications for pavements

For the Diputación Foral de Bizkaia we have carried out various inventory studies and representative analyses of the state of various stretches of the roads in the Territory’s network.

The high point of the analysis was a software tool which we produced to allow coherent storage of all the information obtained and easy and useful access to it. The application has a Data Base upon which we have developed a GIS environment consultation device which contains the surveyed locations.

This layer, together with others that contain the motorways, roads, buildings and other elements, make up the GIS system designed for the Pavement Refurbishment Campaign. Each analytical study is represented on the map by a red triangle. If you click on information on one of these elements, the GIS system shows a screen with all the encoded data for each point of the study. Among other things, it shows the exact kilometric point at which each study was carried out, the date it was done, the road on which it is situated or the identification number of the study.

The software also gives access to all the information stored for each study carried out in the campaign, as well as that taken from other study sources (construction projects, data on the works, settlement projects, completion of works documents, …), and it presents all the data on the screen in a well-structured way, grouping it together logically to make consultation quick and easy and efficient.

Amongst the data is the graphic information collected during the work, for example, the photographs taken during the studies and the drawings containing the position of them.
