LAGARES, 2018 Galician Architecture Award

After receiving in 2017 the architecture contribution award “GRAN DE AREA 2017” by the Architects’ Association of Galicia, the WWTP of Lagares, where FYSEG has provided Technical Assistance to the Site Supervision together with GOC, has received another deserved recognition, the 2018 Galician Architecture Award granted by the Xunta de Galicia.

The new WWTP of Lagares, is designed to treat a pollutant load of up to 800,000 inhabitants, achieving a quality of discharge that is in line with levels of European regulations. These characteristics make it the largest biofiltration WWTP in Spain and one of the largest in Europe. The works have also included the construction of a 3.8-kilometer marine outfall and the expansion of the electrical connection necessary to supply power to the new facility. It is a leading technological project that has incorporated landscape and environmental considerations favoring its integration into the surroundings of an area with a high environmental value.

We knew that we had been part of the good supervision of a great work and this award recognizes our work once again. To celebrate it, we invite you to “fly” on it and run your eyes over its impressive facilities.
